About my work
People have been at the centre of my artistic work for the last 30 years: their mental states, their essence, their identities, roles and feelings. It is the human body which continues to fascinate and inspire me. Getting to grips with its dynamics, its structure in movement and the possibilities of torsion are of central importance.
The continuing search for new ways of expression is my artistic philosophy. That’s why I don’t confine myself to a certain material, technique or subject. The choice of material depends on the topic I’ve chosen for myself. Preferably I use papier-mache, clay, porcelain, textiles, paper or wood. My goal is to initiate interactivity between the idea, the body language, facial expression and material to create a unified whole.
A written or sketched draft is often the beginning of getting to grips with a subject. For some time now this ‘encircling’ of an idea on paper has developed an independence of its own, so that I conclude work on an idea as a drawing or experimental print.
